Resolution No. (2) for 1980
Regarding
Authorized Absences and Special Leaves
Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs,
In accordance with the Prime Minister’s Resolution No. (6) for 1978 regarding the assignment to the Civil Service Bureau for central management and control of all personnel provided services to the Government of Bahrain, And with Resolution No. (8) for 1975 which delegates Some jurisdictions of the Prime Minister to the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, And with the approval of the Council of Ministers, it is hereby ordained that:
Article (1)
Effective 1st January, 1980 the following policy will be applied for the granting and administration of Authorized Absences and Special Leave for all employees of the Government of the State of Bahrain.
Sick Leave and Annual leave benefits are covered under separate resolutions and is not to be considered a part of this Resolution.
Employees in the following categories ace excepted from the provisions of this policy:
- Consultants and contract hire on a daily (per diem) basis;
- Temporary employees appointed for less than 90 days;
- Part-time employees;
Article (2)
All employees of the Government of the State at Bahrain who are covered by the rules of this Resolution are entitled for consideration to all of the following types of authorized absences and special leaves for which they qualify:
- Maternity Leave: Will he at the rate of to work days.
- Wedding Leave: 3 work clays wilt be granted with pity.
- Bereavement Leave: 3 calendar days with pay in the event of the death of relatives to the fourth degree of relationship.
- Widows Leave: The Muslim widow will be eligible for 30 days with full pay and option to a further additional leave of absence without pay for a period upto 3 months and 10 days.
- Accompanying Leave : The maximum of 60 calendar days may be granted if the treatment is authorized by the Medical. Commission. Not authorized for ambulary males over 16 years old.
- Pilgrimage Leave: Upon request of the Minister concerned 21 days with pay will be authorized for Pilgrimage to Mecca for employees with 10 years continuous service.
- Extended Leave Without Pay: Leave without pay for up to 12 months will be authorized with a provision for extension for additional 12 months as appropriate.
- Quarantine Absence: Absence determined by the medical authority for protection against a contagious disease will be excused with pay.
- Excused Absence for Official Duty: Off-duty absence that is determed to be of benefit to the Government unity be excused with pay provided it is properly certified.
Article (3)
The Medical Commission appointed by the Minister of Health is responsible .for determining eligibility of employees for Maternity Leave, Accompanying Leave and Quarantine absence.
Article (4)
The Civil Service Bureau is responsible for the administration of this Resolution and will issue procedures for its implementation.
Article (5)
Any other Regulation or proceddlrt2 that contradicts the provisions of this Resolution is hereby rescinded.
Article (6)
This Resolution comes into effect on 1st January 1980 and will be published in the official Gazette.
