CIVIL SERVICE CIRCULAR NO. (9) for 1983
Regarding
Education Provisions in
Non-Bahraini Employee Contracts

Their Excellencies the Ministers:

From time to time various questions come up regarding the education assistance provisions in the Expatriate Employment Contracts. There is a need for better understanding on the part of employees, schools personnel, supervisors and others. The three main areas that need explanation are as follows:

  1. When do valid reasons exist to provide for the education of dependent children outside the public school system?

  2. What is included in the allowances and reimbursements for actual cost of education?

  3. What is intended by not authorizing benefits for pre-school children?

In order to minimize questions and prevent misunderstanding, the attached guideline is being made available to all parties concerned. It explains the uniform treatment regarding the administration of the above provisions in the contract.
