Regarding
Airport Departure Fee

Their Excellencies the Ministers:

We would like to inform Your Excellencies of the procedures to be followed in paying the Bahrain Airport Departure For to Government employees and their sponsored dependents traveling abroad at government expense.

Effective from 1 January 1990. the revenue stamp has been replaced by coupon as has been advised by MOFNE. The coupon is checked and cancelled by the immigration and passport officer in the airport and returned to the passenger as a receipt for the fee.

Departure Fee Coupons will, be sold at travel agencies, hotels and airline companies.

Ministries are kindly requested to take one of the following actions as agreed by the Ministry of Finance and National Economy and the Civil Service Bureau to pay the cost of the coupons to Government employees and their sponsored dependents except children under two years traveling abroad by air at government expense.

  1. Include the cost of Departure Fee in the appropriate space of the “Request for authorisation of travel entitlements” (Form No. MF 2101) as a regular expense.

  2. Include the cost of Departure Fee as a reimbursable expense on the claim for travel expense” (Form No. MF 2103) when the travel entitlements are not paid in advance on Form No. MF 2101.

  3. Include the cost of Departure Fee as regular travel expense, in the Form of leave entitlement payment (CSB Form No. 19) when the cost of leave or end of service travel is paid by the Government.
