Annual Leave Adjustments

Their Excellencies the Ministers:

To continue the six weeks vacation time each year. an adjustment is required in the monthly earning rate. In a six day work week situation, there are 36 work days in a six week vacation; in a Five day work week there are only 30.

Beginning in February employees will earn 2.5 days a month giving them 30 days or six weeks per year.

To protect the earned leave balances, they will automatically be converted on 1 February. For example, a balance of 60 work days leave will be converted to 50.

10 weeks @ 6 work days per week — 60 work days

10 weeks @ 6 work days per week — 50 work days

There will be no loss of leave resulting from the change in the work week. following are several examples of the conversions to be effective 1 February:

8067.5
6050
4033.5
1512.5

No one will lose any vacation time. A week of vacation will cost only 5 days beginning in February 1990,

The CSB will issue a special one-time leave statement (CSB Form 70) in early February to each employee. It will show the old and new annual leave balance and will include brief information about earning rates. Ministries copies of the leave Statements will give them the new balances for their employees.

Adjustments to the converted balances will be made where warranted. This will cover those whose leave was calculated beyond the conversion date on a six day work week basis. Ministries should bring questionable balances to the attention of CSB For resolution.

Your cooperation is appreciated
